Domestic Violence
Unfortunately today domestic violence is not uncommon.
There are various ways this can occur including physical harm, emotional and psychological abuse, sexual abuse and so on.
This has a hugely negative effect for victims, families, children and communities because of domestic violence, such as:
- Breakdown in way family functions
- Community conflict
- Higher rates of drug/alcohol use
- Fear, depression, anger and suicidal thoughts for victims.
If you’re experiencing abuse or violence it is important to reach out and get help immediately.
Our Refuge
In the event of domestic violence Tumut Regional Family Services offers refuge. This consists of four fully self-contained independent living units. These are that located in a private location, entirely separate from our facilities. We seek to support women, children and families by providing them with a safe environment where they are free to realise their goals.
